System Requirements

Supported Platforms

  • macOS 12 (Monterey) or later — Apple Silicon and Intel
  • Windows 10 or later — 64-bit (x86_64)

Hardware Requirements

Minimum

  • 4 GB RAM
  • 1 GB free disk space
  • Any modern CPU (2015 or newer recommended)

  • 16 GB RAM (or more for large stacks with 50+ frames)
  • SSD with 5+ GB free space
  • Dedicated GPU with 4+ GB VRAM and OpenCL support

GPU Acceleration

Macro Studio uses GPU acceleration when available. Most modern dedicated GPUs (NVIDIA, AMD, Apple Silicon) are supported via OpenCL or Metal.

If no compatible GPU is detected, Macro Studio falls back to CPU processing. Stacking will still work — just slower on large image sets.

Large Stacks

Section titled “Large Stacks”

For stacks with 29+ high-resolution frames (e.g., 45 MP full-frame), 16 GB RAM is strongly recommended. Macro Studio will automatically use half-resolution loading if needed to avoid running out of memory.
